Recap from February 8, 2008

Realtors® Heather Wood of East Bridgwater, Stephanie Costa and Stephanie Pandiscio took the top three honors at the finals of the Dancing with the Realtors® Eastern US Dancesport Championships which took place in February. Dancing with Realtors® was established to benefit local chapters of Habitat for Humanity and three local associations (Eastern Middlesex, Plymouth and South Shore and North Central) hosted sold out shows in the fall of 2007 season. The proceeds at the local shows combined with proceeds raised at The Eastern brought the grand total to over $81,000!

Plans are underway for the 2008 season at several local boards with finals scheduled for February 2009. If you are interested in joining the Realtors for the 2008 season, please contact us at dance@easterndancesport.com.

About Dancing with the Realtors

Realtors across Massachusetts are dancing for Habitat for Humanity. Be dazzled by the fancy footwork these realtors have learned in a few short months.

Early this year, realtors have volunteered their time, money and talent to train in dance studios across Massachusetts to prepare for "Dancing with the Realtors" shows.

These shows have been hosted across the state to raise proceeds for Habitat for Humanity.

  • The Eastern Middlesex Show, held in April 2007, raised $22,000!
  • Plymouth & South Shore Shows, held in October 2007, raised $37,000!
  • North Central Show, held in October 2007, raised $20,000!

The top 6 Realtor dancers from each show will compete at The Eastern, for the final dance off. A presentation will be made to the Habitat for Humanity on Friday evening along with other professional shows that evening.

About Habitat for Humanity

Millions of Americans have a housing crisis. In fact, 5.1 million American families have "worst-case" housing needs, forced to pay more than half their income for housing, endure overcrowded conditions and/or live in houses with server physical deficiencies.

While the number of families in poverty is growing, the number of affordable rental units is shrinking, and most families who qualify for governmental housing assistance aren't receiving aid.

Habitat for Humanity is changing lives. Working in partnership with low-income families to build decent homes they can afford to buy, Habitat helps to break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness.
